FEBRUARY/MARCH
NEWSLETTER
Jim Geary, Board President
Hope this finds you
happy, healthy and warm.
That was quite a cold snap we had and a number of our members were under
the weather with colds. I
trust everyone is on the mend and we look forward to seeing you at the
club soon.
Since
I will be
vacationing in Australia and New Zealand from February 19 to March 10, I
am combining the February and March newsletter.
During our first week I will be traveling in and around Sydney
which will be celebrating Mardi Gras during our time there.
The last week we will be touring both North New Zealand and South
New Zealand Islands. Wish
me luck navigating our rental car since in both countries they drive on
opposite sides!
JANUARY SECTIONAL
What an incredible
sectional we had! It was
our largest table count ever and its success was due to many generous
members. First a big
thank you to our Tournament Co-Chairs BETTY BAYARD and
LYNN BROWN.
Betty and Lynn’s attention to details and their genuine
outgoingness were instrumental in creating a well run and welcoming
event. JUDY McCALL did a
wonderful job of planning the menu and running the kitchen.
She had many people assisting her and special thanks to our male
members who stepped up in a big way for kitchen duty this time.
Also thanks to SHIRLEY TOWNLEY and all our members who brought in
delicious food to share and help defray our food cost.
BOB AUMILLER, SUSIE HAGEY, and CHET MASZTAK did a great job with
purchasing and SUSIE HAGEY also provided her skills as PARTNERSHIP
Chair. BARBARA KING
coordinated our members who served as GREETERS and also did our
decorations. DONNA BENOY
coordinated our caddies and JOHN STERLING and DON BEECHER provided
immeasurable help with clean up.
ROBERT RENUART helped with advertising and BETTY KING, MARTHA
WIRKUTIS, JUDY HINDS, LINDA MILLER, BRUCE OHMAN and a host of
others with SET UP. Also
thanks to RITA CARLIN, HAPPY DODD, and
GAIL RUST for handling deposits.
GAMES
Our attendance at our
Friday and Saturday games has been a bit low.
On Friday at 1:30 P.M. we have a fun game for players with less
than 1000 master points and on Saturday at 1 P.M. we have an unlimited
game. If we have enough
tables on Saturday we can make a special game for players with less than
300 points! If you
haven’t checked out our Friday and Saturday games give them a try!
There are lots of good people who attend and they both are
enjoyable games.
