Patriot's
Day Game: Our first Patriot's Day game was held on
Tuesday, July 5th featuring a wonderful lunch and a two section
game. Misuzu McManus, Sarah Ash and Judith McCall organized
and prepared lunch with the help of many who brought in delicious side
dishes and desserts. Thanks everyone! There were 19
tables with 12 in the Open section and 7 in the Limited. Winning
pairs were:
|
0 - 299 Section: 1st: Mary Wirtz
and Judith Andrews, 58.75% 2nd: David and Terry Wager, 57.92% |
Open Section: 1st
N-S: Spike Lay and Marilyn Garcia, 64%;
1st E-W: Don Beecher and Charles Dodd, 62% |
Our next
Pro-Am Game is scheduled on Tuesday, August 9th.
This very popular event randomly pairs local Pros and Ams for a fun
filled afternoon of Bridge. A scrumptious lunch is planned
before the game. Please sign up at the club
(sign up sheet is on the bulletin board or call a Bridge Director).
Hope to see
you there.
Gift Idea: Our Club sells pre-paid gift cards which are
redeemable at our club for a free play. See Spike Lay for more
details.
Friday Night Swiss
continues to grow with 8 teams turning out on July 8th. A
mixed group with players of all levels so please come out and join
us. Each week the teams are different so no one team
dominates. You come as a pair and teams are formed by drawing
cards. If you need a partner, call Spike Lay or any
Bridge Directors and
they'll be glad to help.
Tuesday
afternoon's
Jackpot of $100 was won on June 28th by Matie
Ellery and Kirby Baker with a
58.8% game. Remember, the percentages needed to win the
Jackpot vary with point level: 0 - 299 players need a 58% game
to win, 300 - 999 players need a 63% game and those with over 1,000
MPs need a 70% game. Come out and join the fun on Tuesday
afternoons.
Learning Center: The club is establishing a new Learning
Center for you on our Backup Computer. A logical extension of
our Library, the Learning Center will have Bridge Software that you
can use. It is also a good way to test drive a software
package before you buy it. In addition, mini-classes will be
offered covering our Web Site and Discussion Page, BridgeScore web
site, ACBL web site, E-mailing and other topics on interest to you.
The Learning Center is an evolving concept and we will endeavor to
incorporate your ideas and needs. If you have Bridge
Software that you no longer use at home and would like to donate it
to the club, we would be most grateful. Because of copyright
laws, we can accept original disks only (no copies please).
Please contact Bill McManus with your comments, ideas and/or
software.
