Busy January! Our
Winter Sectional drew 280 people playing 241 tables. We had 2 GNT qualifiers, two club tournaments, a Pro-Am game, STAC games,
started EasyBridge 1 classes
and initiated a new limited game on Thursday afternoons. Our
fantastic Entertainment Committee provided delicious meals
throughout ... again, thanks for the great job and for going well
beyond the call of duty. Anyone wishing to help the
Entertainment Committee at future events (we really
need you), please contact Sarah Ash.
Thanks to Candy Griffey and Spike Lay for managing
the many events in January and a special thanks to Betty and Max Bayard for
getting our new Easybridge 1 classes going. And, of course,
thanks to you for participating.
Shirley Townley is our club's new
Sunshine person. If Sunshine is needed or congratulations are in
order, please contact her. And thanks to Vivian Heading for
her years of service in this capacity.
Mail Bag: In response to
Web M Aster's inquiry: Sorry, we do not have a Moonshine
person! Thank you for your interest.
Our annual calendar of events
can be printed on your home computer.
There are three months per page with page 1 being January through
March, and page 4 is October through December
(Optional homework assignment: What months are on page 3?) You may print
one page or you may print them all. You may also view an
expanded version of our special events
calendar on our web site.
Please invite your friends and neighbors to
Easybridge 1 classes (Monday at 9:15 AM) and Easybridge 1 workshops
(Friday at 9:15 AM).
It is a great way to learn bridge and meet new
people.
NEW GAME for 0 - 499 or NLM.
If you have 0 - 499 master points or you are
a NLM with any number of points, Thursday's new 1:30 game is
for you.
We need your help and support. Please join us! Thanks!
We invite you
to explore the
Bulletin Board on our web site. The
Goren Bridge Forum remains our most popular forum but we hope
for more activity in the other forums. We have a
Guide to the Bulletin Board for
new users if you are interested.
Happy Valentine's Day!
Who was St. Valentine? After extensive research,
our webmaster has uncovered an intriguing tradition dating back to
ancient Rome, circa 289 BC. On February 14th, Romans gave
their webmaster a piece of chocolate and this was said to bestow
good luck on them for a week.
Our Library
is accepting donations (sorry, only bridge
books and bridge magazines) so we hope you'll
consider donating those books you've finished. Please remember
to return books you've borrowed after a month so others will have a
chance to read them. Thank You!
