Monthly Special
Events Our Zero Tolerance for Unacceptable Behavior policy ensures a courteous, friendly atmosphere to enjoy the game we love. ACBL on Zero Tolerance.
Standby Program To insure everyone who comes to the club will play, we need volunteers for our standby program. Here is how it works: Our standby comes to the club, enjoys the pre-game lesson and waits to see if the director needs an extra player. If needed, the standby plays FREE and will also receive a free play pass. If you are not needed that day, you still receive a free play pass and the many thanks of our club members. The standby program is important
because it insures that any player coming to our club will have a
partner. Peg Lupo is coordinating standbys for the Open games
while Wayne Ash is doing the same for the Limited games. (386) 677-7840 or E-mail Peg. Call Wayne Ash at (386) 426-2008 E-mail Wayne.
You may also talk to any bridge director at the club (386)
255-7744. Thank you
for your help.

ACBL
Teacher Accreditation Program (TAP)
Phyllis Emerson is looking for at least two more bridge players interested in forming a local TAP class. Lynn Berg would teach the class. The class is a full day and costs $125. If you are interested in finding out more details, please contact Phyllis at (386) 446-3693. Thank you. (01/15/2006) Toys for Head Start Program Drive ends Dec 12th Pat and Vivian Heading will once again coordinate our Christmas Toy drive
for the Head Start Program. Our goal is to collect
82 gifts for boys and girls 3-4 years old by Monday, Dec 12th.
Please wrap the gifts and label or indicate whether the gift is
for a boy or a girl. If you would prefer to donate money
or school supplies, this would be wonderful too. We appreciate your help and generosity, and as you might imagine, the kids delight in receiving the gifts. Thanks also to Pat and Vivian Heading and their staff of elves. (Nov 19, 2005) Easybridge 1 classes begin Monday, January 16, 2006 at 9:15 AM Betty Bayard announced: "Our next class of Easybridge 1 will be on Mondays beginning January 16, 2006, at 9:15 AM. This is an opportunity for people to learn bridge. No knowledge of the game is needed. Every year a number of attendees have been referred by you, our current members. Perhaps you have friends who have wanted to learn, or you may know someone that would benefit from meeting new people. The first four lessons are free, so do help us spread the word. Flyers are on the table--take some to hand out. Call Betty Bayard, 788-0782, with any questions." (Nov 21, 2005) Discussion Forum replaced by New Bulletin Board Our old discussion forum has been replaced with a more full-featured Bulletin Board. Most of the messages on the old discussion forum have been moved to the new Bulletin Board. The easier user interface plus the many additional features made it an easy choice to switch. Like anything new, you'll have to use it to feel comfortable but it won't take long. Bulletin Board Guide PDF Bulletin Board Help Page If you have questions, you can post them on the Bulletin Board or you may e-mail the webmaster. Thank you. (posted Oct 10, 2005) Gift Idea Our Club sells pre-paid gift cards which are redeemable at our club for a free play. See any Game Director for more details. (Posted July 11, 2005)

Special Games Explained
Club Tournaments - No extra charge; lots of extra
masterpoints; everybody wins. We are
allowed one per quarter for each session, e.g. for Tuesday
afternoon we are allowed one for
July, August and September.
Sectional at Clubs - We charge $1.00 extra, but we
pay Unit 128 $1.25 extra. Players
get silver points, extra points and a chance to win lots of
points with a really big game.
Hand records are provided. Players all over Florida play
the same hands and the highest
percentage game can win almost 20 masterpoints. There is a
special flight for players with under 500 points.
NAOP (North American Open Pairs) Qualifying Games -
This is a grassroots event that starts at the local level
and continues all the way to the nationals. At the local
level players qualify for the next step which will be the
district finals (Oct. 28-30 in Lake Park). Even if you
don't plan to continue to the next level, the payoffs in
masterpoints are large and half of what you win are red
points. Flights are A = no limit; B = 500-2000; C = under
500 and NLM.
There are several other types of special games during the
year. Our club tries to participate in many of these. For
example, on Monday, July 11th we will participate in the
District 9 Charity Game. The District provides us with hand
records and hand analysis booklets. These are prepared by
an expert, and give you some useful tips on the hands you
have just played. And, of course, the event raises money
for charity.
We welcome your comments regarding these events.
